I am so thrilled to step into the role of Program Coordinator at Waterloo Wayside!
My journey as a community builder has always been rooted in a simple truth: real connection happens when we bring people together, listen to their stories, and make sure everyone feels supported. Throughout my career, whether managing operations in long-term care, organizing local sports teams and dance competitions, or working alongside grassroots initiatives, I have seen how powerful it can be when neighbours share their unique gifts with one another.
With a background in food and nutrition, I have long believed that a shared meal is the heart of any community. Preparing food for dozens of long-term care residents each day was far more than an operational task; it was a daily lesson in empathy. It taught me the importance of understanding each resident’s unique needs and meeting them exactly where they were, without judgment or expectation. That experience shaped my belief that true hospitality means creating a space where everyone has a seat at the table, a voice in the conversation, and a genuine sense of belonging.
My approach is built on dignity, inclusion, and mutual support. We all have something valuable to offer, and when we support one another, we create a stronger, more resilient community. Waterloo Wayside’s commitment to honouring the worth and potential in every person aligns completely with what I strive to bring to my work every day.
